Honest and consistent, Leicester broke through for his maiden stakes and third win from eight starts with a nice staying effort and could be a chance in the upcoming South Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2500m). Jockey Damian Lane got him away well but drifted to fifth (rails) where the pair remained to the 600m before losing their place and needing a run just prior to straightening. Leicester barged through at the 200m and levelled up to the leaders then grabbed the lead inside the 100m, which was enough to hold on by three quarters of a length. High 'N' Dry was last at the 600m, pulled very wide into the straight and ran on strongly in a good staying effort for second. Amerock was a handy fifth turning in and second at the 200m but was collared at the 100m, staying on fairly for third from a battling Box On Collins (inner), the first four well clear of the rest.
