In a surprise result but quite impressive performance, the John McArdle-trained filly I'll Have A Bit scored at odds of $151. Having her third run this preparation, she was eased from her outside barrier and settled in last place in the 11-horse field. She went widest of all at the home turn and then zoomed home with a great finish to win by a neck, going away. Mick Price-trained filly She's So High enjoyed a good run in third place on the rails, moved up well on turning for home, got to the front on passing the 100m but she had no answer to the late-closing winner to take a good second. Godolphin-raced colt Viridine moved up, early on (deep) from a wide barrier to be fourth coming into the home turn. He challenged coming to the 100m and then kept fighting on well for third. The favourite Nature Strip went to the front and held the lead until passing the 100m before holding on for fourth, beaten a length, in a sound effort at his second run this preparation.
