Classy Bjorn Baker-trained filly Champagne Cuddles scored a very good first up win, taking her most consistent record to three wins and five placings from eight starts. She settled in fifth place on the rails from her inside barrier (1), switched between runners rounding the home turn, moved up at the 200m, got the better of the leader (Whypeeo) at the 100m and drew clear to score comfortably. The favourite Whypeeo went to the front, set quite a smart tempo (first 600m 34.45) and held the lead until reaching the 100m and held on well for second, beaten a length, after running a bold race. Godolphin-raced colt Marble raced in sixth place, one off the rails, made his move (deep) on turning for home and kept running on really well for third, looking suited to further.
