The Chris Gangemi-trained Battle Hero is now the winner of four of his last five starts, all at stakes level. He was smartly away and went straight to the front. He then travelled well, got a break at the 300m and went on to score comfortably, his 11th win (with ten placings) from 32 starts. His stablemate Durendal had a good trip in third place on the rails, went to second at the 200m and kept fighting on to hold that position to the post in a sound first up effort. Madassa, who was resuming here, raced outside the leader and eventual winner (Battle Hero) until turning for home and held on to take the minor placing.
