Joe Pride-trained gelding New Tipperary, who was having his second run this preparation, scored a good win, his seventh win but his first stakes success in 24 starts. He settled back in eighth place, behind quite a good tempo, tracked up (wide with cover) coming to the home turn, dashed to the front coming to the 100m and then went on to score well. Red Excitement raced in fourth place, moved up to the leader (Arbeitsam), briefly hit the front at the 200m and then fought well for second. Best Of Days raced in eighth place, on the rails, improved (between runners) at the home turn, got a split at the 200m and battled on nicely to take third. Kaonic raced back in ninth place, improved (deep) at the home run and kept running on quite well to finish (2.7 lengths) fourth.
