In a battle of tactics, progressive Darren Weir-trained colt Leonardo Da Hinchi showed his class in advancing to take out this Group 2 race, his third win (with two placings) from five starts. He settled nicely in third place on the rails but was blocked until Brad Rawiller switched him across heels on straightening. He then came with a strong late finish to score, seemingly with something in hand in a really smart effort. Muswellbrook had a good trip in fourth place (one out and one back), Luke Nolen moved him up well nearing the home turn, keeping his main rival (Leonardo Da Hinchi) pocketed. He got to the front at the 100m but had no answer to the winner's late bid to take second in a sound performance. Mark The Horse went to the front, set quite a reasonable tempo and held the lead until the 100m and then held on take third in a photo. Outrageous raced in last place in the nine-horse field, went deep approaching the home turn and came with a strong late run to finish fourth in a promising effort at his fourth run back, looking suited to further still.
