The highest rated runner here and coming off a storming last start third in The Everest (1200m) three weeks back, Osborne Bulls was too strong, taking his record to nine wins and four placings in 14 starts. Among the last to jump he settled third last one off the fence. At the crossing, jockey Hugh Bowman eased further away from the fence and inside the 400m they were widest. Bowman gave him a shake at the 300m, got busier at the 200m and was travelling best to catch the leader at the 100m. He swept to the lead 50m out and was simply too strong to the line. Bons Away sat behind the winner at the 400m but didn't get into full stride until too late, running on strongly without looking to get past the winner. Runson was third at the 300m and never gave in to the line for a close up third from The Monstar, who led to the 50m but was swamped before holding on for fourth.
