Chris Waller-trained import My Nordic Hero followed his encouraging first-up second at this track on November 17 with a good win here. He was ridden quietly by Hugh Bowman, settling back in second last place in the ten-horse field, behind a solid pace before improving (deep) rounding the home turn. He then sprinted well, took the lead at the 100m and went on to win well. Goodfella was caught deep from his outside barrier (10), settling in fifth place, behind a quick tempo. He moved up (three deep) nearing the 600m, got to the front at the 200m and fought back gamely for a very good (half-length) second after a difficult trip. Victorian-trained gelding Chamois Road raced outside the leader (Monsieur Sisu), was in the centre a trio of leaders at the 600m and then battled gamely for third after racing close to a quick tempo. Spectroscope was last until into the home straight, then went wide and made good late ground for (1.9 lengths) fourth, just in front of Pecans who battled on quite well for (2 lengths) fifth after being handy most of the way.
