Perth star Arcadia Queen's older brother Arcadia Prince, upheld the family tradition with a top class win here, his third in succession, seventh (from 13 starts) in total and maiden stakes win. He settled third last soon after the jump but near the 1200m jockey William Pike eased away from the fence, losing one spot approaching the 800m. He tried to tack onto the main bunch at the 500m yet was last (wide) turning in. Making little impression at the 200m suddenly he grabbed the bit and accelerated very quickly, charged after the leaders, ranged up at the 50m then flew past to get there by a neck. Great Shot sat second, just outside the leader at the 700m, went up to challenge at the 200m, forged into the lead at the 100m and looked a big chance only to watch the winner fly past. From fourth, Red Publisher made his run, three wide at the 400m, was almost in line at the 200m then kept on strongly to the post for a tidy third. Disposition threaded through them late to grab a close up fourth.
