Violate scored a smart first up win, his fourth victory (with nine placings) and his second stakes victory in 31 starts. He settled in fifth place, but racing three deep, before challenging strongly at the 300m and finishing best to score a very good win. The well-supported Streets Of Avalon raced outside the leader (Rock 'N' Gold), got to the front at the 200m and then fought gamey for (long neck) second. Zebulon settled in sixth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1), was shuffled back nearing the home turn, finally got clear at the 200m and finished well for third, looking somewhat unlucky. He Or She was seventh, moved up coming to the home turn and kept battling well for (2.2 lengths) fourth. The favourite Furrion was back in tenth place approaching the home turn and came with a late run for (2.5 lengths) fifth in a very promising first-up run. Grunt was a handy fifth to the home turn but just battled when he found clear running for (2.9 lengths) sixth, resuming here.
