New Zealand mare Consensus scored a narrow but good win here, her third win from her last four starts and her sixth Group success in 54 starts. She had a good trip in fourth place, one off the rails, challenged at the home turn and finished best to score well. Spanish Reef, winner of this race last year, went to the front, was challenged strongly nearing the home turn and kept fighting gamely for a very good second. Kenenda raced in last place in the ten-horse field, got along the inner rounding the home turn, switched out halfway down the straight and then finished strongly for an eye-catching third at her second run back. Naantali raced in sixth place (tacking the eventual winner), moved up wide coming to the home turn, challenged at the 200m and held on well for (1.1 lengths) fourth while the South Australian-trained mare Blue Morpho raced behind the leader and then battled on really well for (1.2 lengths) fifth.
