UEFA Euro 2024, Europe’s premier football tournament kicks off next week in Germany, and Betfair’s Expert Betting Analyst Tony Hargraves thinks defending champions Italy represent tremendous value.

The Euros is the second most watched sporting event on the planet, with 2016's Final between Portugal and France drawing a global audience of more than 600 million people. The reigning champions are the Italians who won the title in 2021 via a penalty shootout with England and Hargraves is expecting big things again from the Azzurri.

"As current (title) holders, they are priced way too high at $19 ($17 Sportsbet, $16 Ladbrokes) and can be backed with a view to trading out in either the Semi-Finals or Final, should they make it again." Hargraves said. 

Italy will have fond memories of playing in Germany, having won the World Cup in that country in 2006. England are rated a good chance to atone for that 2021 heartbreak, and they enter as favourites this time around. 

Hargraves feels their chances rest on the shoulders of star striker Harry Kane.

"It's quite simple, England's chances rest with Kane and the ability of his troops to supply him quality possession" He said. 

"This is clearly the best chance manager Gareth Southgate has ever had."

England are a $4.30 favourite on Betfair, ahead of France ($5.40) and host nation Germany ($6.80). There is currently almost $2.5 million matched in the UEFA Euro 2024 Winner market on the Betfair Exchange, where you can back any team, but also bet on teams not to win the tournament.
