Early Mail for Randwick and Blackbook File for June 6-8.
RANDWICK SATURDAY
RACE 1 (2) HOLLER: The long wait for this Godolphin youngster to have his second start should be worth it. Showed real class with the acceleration he displayed to race away with his first start over 1100m at Randwick in January and again made a big impression in his recent barrier trial which he could have won if put under any pressure. Yet another genuine black type prospect for the leading stable.
RACE 3 (8) PAJARO: He’s only won two of his 13 starts for Gai Waterhouse but the way he performed first-up in a classy Ortensia Stakes over 1100m at the Scone carnival last month indicates this could be his best preparation. He couldn’t go the early race record pace at Scone and was a clear last turning for home but then couldn’t be missed peeling out to make up many lengths in a very fast closing 400m sectional to finish a fast closing seventh. Back on his home track where he is yet to miss a place in three starts, down in class and up to the ideal trip of 1400m second up makes him an excellent gamble.
RACE 7 (4) PRIVATE SECRETARY: Has been costly in her last two starts when unplaced for the first times in her 11 starts but this is an ideal race for her to bounce back to impressive winning form she displayed beforehand. Races best fresh and the three weeks since her creditable sixth in the Ortensia Stakes at the Scone carnival should have her ripe to produce the sharp sprint that has been a feature of her six wins. A 2kg claim for Winona Costin boosts her chances in this easier company where she should have an edge if she performs to her best.
