Early Mail for Warwick Farm and Blackbook Update for January 7.
WARWICK FARM January 7
RACE 6 (9) KINGSGUARD: Going for three straight and hard to fault the manner of his wins over 1550m at Canterbury before he had no trouble carrying 58kg over this course and distance on December 21. Seems to have really turned the corner for he Hawkes stable and they have him well placed to go on with it as he can dictate the pace in this field carrying 5kg less than his last win.RACE 7 (5) DAL CIELO: Really like the way this classy 4YO - a G1 winner as a 2YO in NZ and second in the G2 Sandown Guineas at three - is going for his new trainer Kris Lees. He has raced only once for the stable for an impressive second at Muswellbrook six weeks ago carrying 62.5kg and was never let off the bit in a recent Newcastle trial that was confirmation that he is in the right form to perform well fresh in this moderate company where he is well placed carrying just 1kg over the limit. Expecting him to have the last crack in a field chock full of pace.
RACE 9 (4) HOGMANAY: No horse in the Waller stable is going better over the summer than this improving gelding. He’s lining up for his third successive win under Benchmark conditions and even though he is creeping up in the weights I doubt that the handicapopr has his measure just yet with in-form apprentice James Innes again taking his vital claim. He’s gone a month since his last win over 1500m at Rosehill but an excellent third in a trial on December 30 has kept him up to the mark.BLACKBOOK UPDATE
