TRIAL POINTERS
GOSFORD March 19: The unraced Impending 3YO POCKET EIGHTS has been a consistent trial performer, having won four of his five trials since his first last August. Did it easily to win this 800m heat in fast time for the session (48.97; 36.40), setting the pace and coasting home for a soft win by more than two lengths. Ready to race well in the right maiden
ROSEHILL March 18: Impressive Melbourne winner ANOTHER WIL is ready to make an impact on the Sydney carnival after breezing through his first local trial over 1030m. Did it easily with plenty in reserve through the line and while the time wasn't quick (62.00; 35.06) his action oozed class. IKNOWASTAR has won eight of his 16 starts and should be adding to that record in his coming campaign after running away with the fastest 1030m heat by almost seven lengths (60.89; 34.43). This was his second trial and augers well for his return even though he hasn't won first-up in four attempts. Super Seth youngster LINEBACKER impressed in his debut win and this strong trial win over 900m (55.00; 35.17) was confirmation that he is set to go on with it when he next races. Controlled the heat and could have easily gone quicker coasting home by more than three lengths. In a strong 900m heat (54.34; 34.17) SHINZO was ridden on the pace for the first time in his recent trials. Only fair through the line and suggest he could have gone better on a firmer deck. Maiden and 2YO heat winners who did enough to warrant attention when they race include IMPERIAL FORCE (900m – 54.48).
WARWICK FARM March 12: Promising Yes Yes Yes filly USEAPIN was noted when second in her first trial at Rosehill on March 1 and another impressive effort confirmed she is a youngster with potential. Strong work from midfield over the last 400m in her fast 801m heat (47.26; 33.95), surging to the line under a tight hold from James McDonald to finish second. Ready to make an impact on debut. Smart heat winners included FROEBEL STAR (801m – 47.16; 33.91).
HAWKESBURY March 11: SUNBORN was among those to impress with easy work in their open heats over 1000m while the Waterhouse/Bott trained youngster ZOUBELLE posted fast time winning her 800m heat.
RANDWICK March 7: The Waterhouse/Bott production line rolled on with the top stable winning five of the six heats over 740m including the 2YO trials with ZSA ZSA (43.48; 33.12) and PHENOM (42.94; 32.55).
NEWCASTLE February 28: Ciaron Maher added some class to this session with several of his autumn prospects performing well in their heats. Among them were GRINGOTTS and PRINCESS RAYAA.
WARWICK FARM February 26: A strong open heat over 805m was won in fast time by BUTCH CASSIDY (46.97; 33.09).
RANDWICK February 7: A course proper trial over 900m for the Group horses saw Golden Slipper winner SHINZO finish third in his heat (54.31; 35.42), working to the line under no pressure in a trial that is sure to improve his fitness.
