RANDWICK September 9

Course Proper/Randwick A Grass; Good 4

Course Proper – 2 x 1000m (Group/Listed)

A Grass – 2 x 1200m (Open); 8 x 1050m (4 Open; 4 Maiden); 4 x 740m (1 Open; 2 Maiden; 1 C1/Maiden)

Two classy trials on the course proper for the Group horses.

HEAT 1 (1000m): MAZU retains plenty of zest, leading under a good hold to record a soft win this heat (60.13; 34.33) that featured other G1 stars STEFI MAGNETICA; THINK ABOUT IT and FANGIRL. None of the runners were put under any pressure with only 2.5 lengths covering the six runners across the line. The pair that looked good in their late work were the Stradbroke winner STEFI MAGNETICA (2nd) and exciting prospect SCARLET OAK (4th). THINK ABOUT IT's effort was typical of his trials, doing all that was required to finish third while FANGIRL (5th) was merely out for conditioning work.

HEAT 2 (1000m): TROPICAL SQUALL set a solid pace but came under a ride over the last 200m and couldn't' match the impressive late work from off the pace by the winner AMENABLE and runner-up REVOLUTIONARY MISS. They sprinted to the line in faster time than the first heat (59.82; 33.96) and look set for good campaigns.

There were numerous good efforts In the A grass trials, the most notable being COMMEMORATIVE, KING OF SPARTA, MISS JUDAS, PANTOJA and SMART LEGEND.

WYONG September 9

Course Proper; Good 4

17 Heats – 2 x 1200m (Open); 7 x 1000m (3 Open; 4 Maiden); 8 x 845m (2 Open; 6 Maiden)

A strong winning trial by GRINGOTTS indicates he can carry on with the super form he displayed in the late autumn.

Ciaron Maher spelled GRINGOTTS after he reeled off three successive wins including the Tamworth Cup and a Listed race in Brisbane, taking his career record to seven wins from 13 starts.

This was his second trial since his spell and he had no trouble running past the leader to record a soft win in his 1200m heat (72.30; 34.95) that will have him ready for a bold first-up performance.

The smart sprinter HARD TO SAY was under a big hold finishing a close second in his 845m heat (48.84; 34.03) that he could have won if given rein. In the maiden heats the newcomer EMERY looked raw and awkward but made a good impression winning her 845m trial in smart time (50.53; 34.91).

NOTED TRIALS
