Son of Snitzel set to tackle Scone Cup.
Having finished fourth in a handicap over 1400 metres at Randwick on April 24, co-trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou will be hoping Bottega (Snitzel) can bounce back in the Scone Cup (Listed, 1600m) on Friday.
The multiple stakes placegetter was expected to be competitive last start when he stepped out in a benchmark race at Randwick but after driving forward from a good draw, he refused to settle and raced ungenerously.
"If he pulls and doesn't settle, he doesn't finish off," Ryan said.
"He has done that before.
"Tomorrow, he'll be ridden quietly back in the field. There looks to be good speed in the race and that will give him his chance to hit the line."
The gelding has shown some good form this season, finishing second in the Newmarket Handicap (Gr 3, 1400m) on March 5, before finishing third in the Doncaster Prelude Handicap (Gr 3, 1500m) on April 3.
