Dual Group 1 winner sells for $1.55m.
Two-time Group 1 winner Sierra Sue joined the list of mares to sell for seven figures in Australia this season when she changed hands for $1.55 million on Wednesday.
The former Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained mare, who won the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and Futurity Stakes at Group 1 level carrying the colours of Ozzie Kheir, was snapped up by Broomfield Park's Bill Pearce.
Put up as a standalone Inglis Digital offering, the five-year-old became the most expensive horse sold online in Australia this year and the second most expensive sold via Inglis Digital, behind Funstar, who sold for $2.7m last year.
She was yet another high-priced racemare sold in Australia this year following the likes of Away Game ($4m), Tofane ($3.1m), Shout The Bar ($2.7m) and Lighthouse ($1.7m).
Pearce confirmed Sierra Sue, a daughter of Darci Brahma, would be retired with attention now turning to locking down a meeting with a top stallion in a couple of months' time.
"I just loved her as a race mare," Pearce said. "She was so honest and so talented and if she can bring those traits to her broodmare career, she's going to produce some magnificent foals.
"We'll sit down together in the next week or so and work out which stallion she'll go to first up."
Sierra Sue, who was bred in New Zealand, retires a winner of nine of 24 starts and $1.73m in stakes.
In addition to her two elite-level wins, which both came over the Caulfield 1400m, she won the Blazer Stakes and Lawrence Stakes, both 1400m events runs at Group 2 level.
