Saturday’s feature winner becomes one of sire’s highest-rating runners of season

King Of Sparta not only helped I Am Invincible all but wrap up the Australian sires' premiership with his win in last Saturday's Bletchingly Stakes, he cemented his place as one of his top performers of the season in the process.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained gelding has only the Yarraman Park stallion's three Group 1 winners ahead of him in terms of his highest-rated performers of the season.

The three-year-old, who was a $700,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling in 2020, returned a peak rating of 114 with his win over hardy Snitzel gelding Scallopini in the 1200m Group 3 at Caulfield.

That was two points higher than his previous best rating, which came in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) on the Gold Coast in January.

King Of Sparta's Bletchingly Stakes rating was just three points inferior to the 117 Lombardo returned in winning the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) in Adelaide in May.

I Am Invincible's highest rater this season is the now-retired Home Affairs, who rated 125 when winning the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) and then went to 126 after his win in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m).

Marabi is I Am Invincible's other Group 1 winner this season, having put up a rating of 121 in the Oakleigh Plate (1100m) in February.

With less than a week until the season ends next Monday, I Am Invincible progeny have earned $19,716,975 with So You Think in second spot on the prizemoney table with $19,170,357.

In terms of winners, I Am Invicible has had 184 individual horses combine for 311 victories with Written Tycoon next best with 291 wins from 178 horses.
