Stallion nominations to be awarded to winning breeders
Darley has affirmed its commitment to Sydney's feature three-year-old filly races, which make up the Princess Series, offering a stallion nomination to the breeder of the winner of each of the four races.
Nominations to Ghaiyyath, Victor Ludorum, Earthlight and Palace Pier will be up for grabs along with the rich prizemoney and Group status that has long accompanied the series that has operated since 1985.
The breeder of the horse who wins the first leg of the series, the $250,000 Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) on August 20, will win a nomination to Ghaiyyath, a son of Dubawi who was once the highest-rated horse in the world.
A service to Victor Ludorum, the undefeated Group 1-winning son of Shamardal, has been attached to the $250,000 Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) on September 3, while Earthlight, another champion two-year-old son of Shamardal, is the nomination attached to the $250,000 Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 17.
The breeder of the horse who wins the jewel in the Princess Series crown, the $750,000 Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), will be awarded a service to Palace Pier, a five-time Group 1-wining son of Kingman.
"We're keen to support black type and, specifically, Group racing to reward the breeders who achieve significant milestones," Darley Australia managing director Vin Cox said.
"In supporting the breeders of these horses, not only in sponsorship dollars, the Australian Turf Club and the breeders get a specific benefit in accessing our highly successful and commercial stallion roster.
"It will be our fourth year in a series which allows us to have a conversation with our breeders and clients, recognising knowledge and rewarding achievement at the highest level."
Palace Pier, who is new to Darley Australia this season, stands for $55,000, Ghaiyyath is $27,500, Victor Ludorum $24,750 and Earthlight $22,000.
