Dual Group 2 winner sells for $1,025,000 on Inglis Digital
The team that raced Jamaea are celebrating their former star becoming the latest mare to sell for seven figures on Inglis Digital.
The daughter of Headwater realised $1,025,000 when sold to Yulong as part of the July (Late) Sale.
The four-year-old proved herself a dream acquisition for Kembla Grange trainers Robert and Luke Price, winning a Percy Sykes Stakes and Furious Stakes at Group 2 level and a tick over $1 million in stakes.
That was after being purchased for $130,000 at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
"You always dream of selling a $1 million mare but when it comes down to it, there really aren't that many people walking around with that sort of money to spend so you never genuinely expect to reach those heights, but we've done it today and it's bloody amazing," former managing owner Bruce Noble said.
"For a $130,000 filly who won over $1 million on the track and now sells for over $1 million, we just can't believe it.
"I've been around a long time and I know it's bloody hard to get seven figures for a horse of any kind so I thought if she could hit $900,000 it would be huge but the $1,025,000, it's really just the icing on the cake."
Jamaea joins Miss Roseiano and Another Award as mares to sell for at least $1 million on Inglis Digital during July and will be joining Another Award at Yulong's Nagambie base, where she will be served by Diatonic.
"We want to give Diatonic some really nice mares in his first season to give him the best possible chance and we think Jamaea is perfect for him,'' Yulong's Sam Fairgray said.
"She's an attractive race mare with a great record, a multiple Group 2 winner and performed at both two and three so we're delighted to have her."
Yulong also landed the second highest-priced lot of the sale, Hinchinbrook five-year-old Brookspire, who sold for $640,000.
Brookspire is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Inspirational Girl, who Yulong bought earlier this year at the Inglis Chairman's Sale.
A stallion share in Proisir was the third highest-priced lot of the sale, selling for $380,000, while WA mare Clairvoyance, a daughter of Nostradamus, was the other lot to sell for more than $300,000, going to Byerley Bloodstock for $330,000.
The July (Late) Sale grossed $4,672,250, which made July the second most successful month in Inglis Digital history with $13,283,900 changing hands for the month.
