Sells for NZ$670,000 to China Horse Club on Gavelhouse.com.
The 2017 New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Hasahalo (Savabeel) set a new Australasian sales online record through the Gavelhouse.com platform on Monday when China Horse Club parted with NZ$670,000 for the mare, beating out Arrowfield Stud.
The price-tag for the mare beats the previous record set by Group 1 winner Consensus (Postponed), who was purchased by Yulong Investments for NZ$622,500 on Gavelhouse.com in December.
The daughter of Savabeel (Zabeel) was purchased by Go Racing for NZ$110,000 at the 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale and she won two of her 18 career starts, accumulating NZ$426,000 in career prize-money.
Trained by Stephen McKee, Hasahalo raced as an early two-year-old finishing runner-up to Gift Of Power (Power) in the Wakefield Challenge Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) with the subsequent ten-time Group 1 winner Melody Belle (Commands) in third.
She secured her first Group win at her following start when taking out the Eclipse Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) before subsequently finishing runner-up to Melody Belle in the Karaka Million 2YO (RL, 1200m), while the highlight of her career came when winning the fillies' Classic for four-lengths the following November.
The mare is out of Encosta De Lago (Fairy King) mare Halloween, who is herself a half-sister to Generous Nature (Carnegie) - the dam of Group 2 winner Savvy Nature (Savabeel) and Addictive Nature (Savabeel). While her half-sister All Saints' Eve (Sacred Falls) finished a good third in the Kembla Grange Classic (Gr 3, 1600m) last Friday.
