Son of Kodiac proves popular at Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale.
Chris Waller's spending spree at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale gained more momentum on Wednesday as John Ferguson, who was acting on behalf of the champion trainer, went to 370,000gns for three-time winner Bullfinch (Kodiac).
Catalogued as Lot 1100 and offered by The Castlebridge Consignment, the 103-rated colt is out of Pretty Polly Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) winner Thistle Bird (Selkirk).
Thistle Bird herself is out of Listed winner Dolma (Marchand De Sable), making her a half-sister to Mccreery (Big Bad Bob), who Waller purchased for 200,000gns at the 2015 edition of the sale and he went on to land a brace of Group 3s in Australia.
Ferguson said he thought the colt had the right profile to suit Australia.
"Bullfinch he has got undoubted ability, he has been beautifully trained and the mare [Thistle Bird] went on to be a champion older mare. She was wonderful," said Ferguson.
"The sire Kodiac has had the winner of the Caulfield Cup in Best Solution, whom we bought as a yearling a few years ago. So, from an Australian point of view, there are a lot of reasons to think Bullfinch could be a lot of fun."
On day three, Waller also purchased one-time winner Summit Reach (Dansili) for 22,000gns from the Juddmonte Farms draft.
Catalogued as Lot 1119 the colt is out of Casual (Nayef) and she has already shown an affinity at producing top-class horses in Australian, being the dam of dual Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Harlem (Champs Elysees).
Over the three days, Waller has purchased five horses for an aggregate of 912,000gns at an average of 182,400gns.
