Inglis announce Group 1 winning mare will sell in May.
Group 1 winning mare Daysee Doom (Domesday), in foal to Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), will be offered at the forthcoming Inglis Chairman's Sale.
Trained by Ron Quinton, Daysee Doom raced 27 times for nine wins and six placings, with her career highlight being the 2018 Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m). She also won the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) and Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m).
Daysee Doom's final start came in April 2019 and her first foal is a colt by Exceed And Excel (Danehill) while her second is a daughter of Deep Field (Northern Meteor).
Jack Griffin, who bred and raced Daysee Doom, said the decision to sell her came with mixed emotions.
"She's one of the best mares of the past 5-10 years, she gave us some of the best memories of our lives but I'm 77 now, turning 78 soon enough and breeding horses is a long-term thing so I've decided to move out of her and let some other lucky breeder take her on,'' Griffin said.
"She's got two beautiful youngsters on the ground already, an Exceed And Excel yearling colt and a Deep Field weanling filly, both of whom I'll keep to race and they are both the most magnificent types, so I know she throws absolute top-quality progeny.
"She's just a fantastic mare in every way, I mean she was so popular during her racing days that everybody fell in love with her. She's got her own amazing personality, she's a great physical, already a beautiful producer and now some lucky person can continue the dream run that I've had with her from the start.''
Senior Bloodstock Consultant at Inglis Harry Bailey expressed his delight at the addition of Daysee Doom to the catalogue.
"Daysee Doom is an absolute standout in every way and is sure to be highly sought after,'' Bailey said.
"She raced the best and beat the best season after season in Sydney, she was as tough as they come and had abundant class.
"She is a breeders dream in many respects, particularly given she is a Danehill-free daughter of Domesday, the broodmare sire of Trapeze Artist.
"She is one of the best mares in the first Australian book of Wootton Bassett, who has the potential to be a sire sensation in this part of the world and it is a real honour to have the opportunity to offer her to the market as part of this great sale.''
The 2022 Chairman's Sale will be held at Riverside Stables on Friday May 6.
