He had to win a battle with the man who trains the brother but Suman Hedge is going home with the Headwater filly who was the star performer early on Day 2 at this year's Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

Hedge paid $220,000 for Rathmore Lodge's daughter of Headwater and Miss Cooper, who inherited the mantle as the most expensive filly of the sale and second dearest yearling behind the $300,000 Snitzel colt who topped Tuesday's opening day.

Underbidder was Richard Jolly, co-trainer of the filly's three-year-old brother Karacasu, who has had six starts for two wins and three second placings.

"I like the fact that the full Karacasu has shown a lot of ability, so it's a repeat mating that we know has worked and the filly just presented really well," Hedge said.

"I think Richard Jolly was the underbidder and he obviously knows the family really well, so we definitely had to be aggressive."

Karacasu is Miss Cooper's first foal while her second, two-year-old Zebedee filly Piiink Beauty is dual Stakes-placed in Tasmania.

Miss Cooper, a daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, is out of Miss Lenglen, who is a daughter of Miss Kournikova.

An Oakleigh Plate winner, Miss Kournikova is also the dam of Oakleigh Girl (Snitzel), who won the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on debut and finished runner-up to Unencumbered in the 2014 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m).

"We looked at everything at the sale and she was just one of the best types here," Hedge said.

"There is a lot of evidence of speed throughout the pedigree and we just thought that she presented really well, looks like she'll be sharp and looks like she'll run early, so hopefully it'll work out for us."
