192 lots sell on Tuesday producing a record turnover of 54 million guineas 

A total of 192 lots sold during the second day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale on Tuesday producing a turnover of 54,005,000gns, the highest grossing day in European auction history. The previous record of 49,545,000 guineas was set at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale earlier this autumn. 

The day saw 11 lots sell for 1 million guineas or more, ten of which were part of the inaugural Sceptre Session. The day's average finished at 281,276 gns and the median was 112,500 gns. 

The second part of the Sceptre Session on Tuesday saw the 49 sold lots realise a total of 37,637,000 gns, taking the two-day total for the new December Mares Sale initiative to 45,907,000 guineas at an average of 646,577 gns. 

In addition to Alcohol Free (No Nay Never) and Saffron Beach (New Bay), two lots made more than 2 million with Godolphin buying Tranquil Lady (Australia) for 2.7 million guineas while One Agency spent 2 million gns on Ville de Grace (Le Havre). 

BBA Ireland are the leading buyers having spent 13,494,000 gns on 35 horses, while Godolphin spent 4,525,000 gns on three lots. The Castlebridge Consignment have sold 44 horses for 12,322,000 gns.
