Significant increases to be seen before the 2021 summer meet begins on July 15
The New York Racing Association (NYRA) announced on Tuesday significant increases to the prize money for their 2021 summer meet at Saratoga. The meet runs from July 15 through to September 6.
All open stakes at Saratoga that previously carried a purse of US$100,000 will see an increase of 20 per cent to US$120,000. Open maiden special weight races at Saratoga will enjoy a US$10,000 boost, up to US$100,000, while New York-bred maiden special weights will increase by US$5,000 to US$85,000. Increases will also be made on optional claiming races.
"We look forward to welcoming horsemen from across the country back to Saratoga," said Keith Doleshel, NYRA racing secretary for Saratoga. "The purse increases across the board should help make the 2021 season a summer full of the competitive racing that Saratoga is known for."
