Catalogues Out For Tatt's December

3 minute read

A total of 2728 lots have been catalogued for the forthcoming Tattersalls December Sale which takes place from November 24th – December 4th.

The catalogues are out now and are available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives and comprise 1 day of 237 yearlings, 1261 foals over 5 days and 1230 lots of breeding stock over the final four days.

Heading the sale are a trio of Group 1 winning three-year-old fillies, NATAGORA, LADY MARIAN and SAOIRSE ABU and the Group 1 winning South African Champion Mare NATIONAL COLOUR. Consigned from the stables of French trainer Pascal Bary, NATAGORA won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket as a two-year-old before returning to headquarters as a three-year-old to take the 1000 Guineas in determined style. The top class daughter of SUNDAY SILENCE's son DIVINE LIGHT also won the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and was placed in a further five Group 1 events.

LADY MARIAN looks set to be one of the most highly sought after lots following her emphatic last start victory in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp. The German bred daughter of NAYEF ran out a comfortable winner in what looked a strong renewal of the race, defeating the three-time Group 1 winner LUSH LASHES, and looks open to further improvement. LADY MARIAN is part of a strong draft from German consignor Ronald Rauscher that also includes SACARINA, dam of the Group 1 German Derby winners SAMUM and SCHIAPARELLI and Group 1 German Oaks winner SALVE REGINA, in foal to their sire MONSUN's Champion son MANDURO. SACARINA's daughter SANWA is also catalogued, offered in foal to Juddmonte Farm's star stallion DANSILI and consigned by Castletown Stud.

MR GREELEY's dual Group 1 winning filly SAOIRSE ABU also looks one of the highlights of the catalogue, having been third in NATAGORA's 1000 Guineas and a winner of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and Group 1 Phoenix Stakes as a two-year-old. SAOIRSE ABU hails from the family of the Classic winner BALANCHINE and will be consigned from Jim Bolger's Glebe House Stables.

The 2006 South African Horse of the Year NATIONAL COLOUR completes the quartet of Group 1 winning fillies/mares on offer. The daughter of NATIONAL ASSEMBLY won three Group 1 races in her native South Africa when under the care of trainer Sean Tarry and showed her class when finishing a close second in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at Newmarket in August.

The Group winning two-year-olds LAHALEEB, winner of the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on her last start, and LANGS LASH, winner of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, both look attractive racing propositions, whilst other fillies on offer include the Group 1 St Leger runner-up UNSUNG HEROINE, 1000 Guineas runner-up ARCH SWING, and Turkish superstar RIBELLA, winner of more than £1,000,000 in prizemoney.

Amongst the mares on offer are MISE, dam of the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner NAHOODH, LOGICA, dam of globetrotting star DOCTOR DINO and OUR KING OF QUEENS, dam of Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes winner SPINNING QUEEN who realised 3,000,000 guineas in the Tattersalls sale ring at the 2006 December Sale. There are also the typically high quality drafts from the Niarchos family's Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard and Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber's Kiltinan Stud as well as strong consignments from leading nurseries Cheveley Park Stud, Darley, Highclere Stud, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Stud and leading consignors The Castlebridge Consignment, Voute Sales, and Jamie Railton.

Commenting on the 2008 Tattersalls December Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

“The 2007 Tattersalls December Sale broke all records with an outstanding catalogue headlined by the dispersal of the late Robert Sangster's Swettenham Stud, and whilst that will be a hard act to follow we are delighted to offer three catalogues stacked with quality, including three top class Group 1 winning three-year-old fillies. The Tattersalls December Sale typically attracts buyers from all corners of the Globe looking to upgrade the quality of their broodmare bands and we look forward to welcoming them to what is the World's most international sale. The Tattersalls December Foal Sale also looks strong on quality with the top 20 active British and Irish based sires, as well as top French, German and North American sires all represented ”.
