One of the last three foals sired by Storm Cat, who was retired from stallion duties last year due to declining fertility, features in the Keeneland November breeding stock sale catalogue, which was published online today.
Denali Stud consigns the foal, a filly out of the Listed-placed Gone West mare Western Princess from the family of Grade 1 heroine November Snow. Western Princess is herself catalogued to be sold, also by Denali Stud, as hip 119.
Other stallions represented in this section of the sale include first-crop foal sires Street Sense, Jazil, Invasor, Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday, English Channel and the late Lawyer Ron, as well as more established sires such as Medaglia D'oro, A.P. Indy, Dynaformer, Unbridled's Song and Elusive Quality.
The sale also features 2,337 broodmares, including those fromthe dispersals of two of North America's most prestigious breeding operations, Overbrook Farm and Windfields Farm, founded by the late E.P. Taylor.
Notable broodmare entries include Star Of Goshen, dam of dual Grade 1 winner Pioneerof The Nile and in foal to Street Cry, Well Dressed, the dam of Well Armed and back in foal to the Dubai World Cup hero's sire Tiznow, Glint In Her Eye, dam of Jeremy and a half-sister to Deep Impact, and Constant Companion, dam of triple top-flight winner Forever Together.
As Hill 'n' Dale Farms owner John G. Sikura revealed to the Racing Post last month, champion Azeri has been catalogued in foal to Distorted Humor.
Also entered are Mick Quinlan's 2008 Queen Mary Stakes winner Langs Lash, David Barker's popular sprinter Sierra Vista, who was purchased for 115,000gns at the 2007 Tattersalls December Mares Sale, and London Bid, the unplaced first foal produced by top-class mare Islington.
Grade 1 heroines Golden Doc A, Elloluv and Cotton Blossom are also due to go under the hammer.
The catalogue is completed by 476 horses of racing age and four stallions, making a total of 4,702 lots – 17.6 per cent less than the record 5,709 entered for last year's sale, which recorded declines of 45 per cent in turnover and 39 per cent in average on the 2007 renewal.
Keeneland director of sales Geoffrey Russell said: "The November Sale offers quality and quantity unlike any other breeding stock sale in the world. This year's catalogue features some of the most outstanding broodmares and race fillies on the market today."
