The catalogue for the Tattersalls December Foal Sale is out now and can also be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com. Numbering 950 foals, the sale takes place over four days from Wednesday 25th November – Saturday 28th November.
Global stars AQLAAM, winner of the Group 1 Prix du Moulin, FAME AND GLORY, winner of the Group 1 Irish Derby and the globetrotting Group 1 winner PRESVIS are all graduates of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale and the 2009 renewal features the usual quality associated with Europe's premier foal sale. All of the current top 20 active sires in Britain and Ireland have foals catalogued including CAPE CROSS with 19, DALAKHANI (11), DANEHILL DANCER (9), DANSILI (3), EXCEED AND EXCEL (13), GALILEO (6), INVINCIBLE SPIRIT (8) and MONTJEU (2). The leading first crop sires are all also well represented with the current top four, SHAMARDAL, DUBAWI, ORATORIO and FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND represented by 23, 13, 10 and 2 foals respectively.
Sires with their first crop of foals traditionally attract plenty of attention and amongst the 25 with foals catalogued are Classic and Group 1 winners AMADEUS WOLF, AUTHORIZED, COCKNEY REBEL, DARK ANGEL, DUTCH ART, DYLAN THOMAS, EXCELLENT ART, LAWMAN, MANDURO, MILK IT MICK, NOTNOWCATO, RAIL LINK, RED CLUBS, SIR PERCY, STORMY RIVER and TEOFILO. Proven North American based Group1 sires also feature prominently with ELUSIVE QUALITY, GRAND SLAM, JOHANNESBURG, LEMON DROP KID, MR GREELEY and RAHY all represented.
In total there are own or half brothers and sisters to more than 130 Group and Listed winners catalogued for the December Foal Sale including 2009 Group winners FLEETING SPIRIT, KINGSGATE NATIVE, NEVER ON SUNDAY, NIGHT MAGIC, TOTAL GALLERY, LILLIE LANGTRY, MISHEER, SAND VIXEN, STARLARKS, THE MINIVER ROSE, XTENSION, GOLDEN SWORD and HALICARNASSUS.
Commenting on the catalogue for the 2009 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
