Australian champion So You Think has sired his first winner in Europe, the win coming with his two-year-old Neguev at Deauville in France.

Neguev (So You Think x Lady Bering by Bering) won his maiden over a mile to make up for a demotion at his first start at Deauville when he first past by a big margin on August 9.

This time there ws no doubt as he won by a half length as an odds on favourite to become the first winner for High Chaparral’s freshman sire.

Neguev, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget for Daniel-Yves Treves, was purchased for €120,000 at the Arqanja August Sale at Deauville last year.

He is a grandson of the stakes-winning Nureyev mare Light Step, who is a half-sister to four black-type performers including G2 and G3 winner Eltish (Cox’s Ridge) and G3 winner Forest Gazelle (Green Forest).

The family includes G1 Pacific Classic winner Skimming (Nureyev) and G1 1000 Guineas winner Wince (Selkirk).

So You Think retired to Coolmore Stud with an exceptional record of 10 G1 wins in both hemispheres and a Tiumeform rating of 133 having defeated over 75 individual G1 winners for earnings of $8.9 million.

His first Australian-bred crop includes G2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes winner Gold Rush, stakes performers Conscious and Smart As You Think, impressive maiden winners Inference, Turbulent Air and Kaching.
