Champion filly Alpha Centauri is to be served by Galileo in her first season at stud.
The Niarchos family’s racing manager Alan Cooper has confirmed that Galileo has been selected as the first mate for the daughter of Mastercraftsman.
Alpha Centauri won four G1 races in 2018 before suffering a career-ending injury.Copper said the 4YO is “absolutely sound now” and enjoying life in the paddocks.
Cooper believes Galileo is a perfect match for Alpha Centauri as it will represent the dominant Galileo-Danehill cross.Alpha Centauri was named Champion 3YO Filly at the 2018 Cartier Awards and was voted Horse of the Year at the Horse Racing Ireland awards.
• Some 464 lots have been catalogued for the two-day Tattersalls February Sale on January 31 and February 1.The catalogue comprises 176 fillies in/out of training, 41 broodmares, 174 colts/geldings in/out of training, 53 yearlings and 20 2YOs.
