New Zealand Bloodstock's Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale is set to begin this Friday 5 August, and the 26 promising supplementary entries for the Sale are now available to be viewed online.
Supplementary entries have provided a number of Sale highlights including two daughters of the inform Savabeel in the stakes winner Queen Sabeel and the stakes placed Grandissima, a half-sister to the Group 1 winner The Mighty Lions, and Potent Lady, a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winning mare Miss Potential.
With a catalogue of 96 thoroughbreds on offer, it is a case of quality, not quantity, with a number of highly attractive breeding options available to breeders for the 2011 season.
With mares by a number of notable broodmare sires in the Sale, the line up boasts mares by Zabeel, the broodmare sire of 75 stakes winners, Star Way who continues to show his appeal as a dam sire with horses such as Encosta de Lago and Monaco Consul, Red Ransom who saw Red Ruler become his third Group 1 winner and 56th stakes winner as a broodmare sire last season, and New Zealand's own Champion Broodmare Sire Centaine.
With a majority of these mares served in 2010, the line up of stallions represented as covering sires is also impressive. The Sale will see a host of mares served by young sires including Alamosa (Lot 43), Red Giant (Lots 19 & 24), Sakhee's Secret (Lots 16, 74 & 90), Sir Percy (Lot 36) and Swice Ace (Lot 7).
Also on offer are mares served by New Zealand's record breaking Champion 2010/11 Sire Thorn Park (Lot 8), Keeper (Lots 9, 25 & 37) who has had a successful season with Midnight Oil winning the New Zealand Oaks, Pentire (Lot 13), Darci Brahma (Lot 20) who is the sire of the Australian stakes winner Darci be Good, Bachelor Duke (Lots 33, 39, 82 & 89) and the $3.6 million yearling Don Eduardo (Lot 14) who sired five stakes winners on both sides of the Tasman in the 2010/11 season.Stakes winning and stakes producing mares in the Sale include the Group 2 winner Naturo, Diamond Babe, the dam of the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes winner Blackie (for more information on this Lot, click here), Irish Nassie, the dam of the Group 3 winner Keepin' The Dream and Kinjinette, the dam of the international Group 1 winner Sight Winner.
One of the feature lots of the Sale will go under the hammer at Lot 60, the Pins mare Classy Bawn. Out of a Sadler's Wells mare, she is from one of the world's elite thoroughbred families; her grand-dam is the Group 1 winner and prolific producer Blush with Pride, the dam or grand-dam of no less than five Group 1 winners, including the Group 1 winner and sire Thewayyouare (Kingmambo).
The catalogue does not let down on the racing front either with yearlings, two-year-olds and race horses by sires including Commands who set an Australian record when siring 155 individual winners in the 2010/11 season, Europe's 2010 Champion First Season Sire Iffraaj and New Zealand's 2010/11 Champion First Season Sire Perfectly Ready.
