Johar's Group 1 winner Guiseppina will start the next phase of her stellar career as a broodmare at Pencarrow Stud.
Trained by Steven Ramsay & Julia Ritchie, Guiseppina (Johar x Battocchi, by Success Express) retires to stud as the winner of six of her 21 career starts including the G1 Telegraph Handicap.
“She’s retired sound and we’re going to give her plenty of time to let down,” Pencarrow manager Leon Casey said.
“She’s a Group One winner under handicap conditions and placed at Group One level at weight-for-age so she’s done a great job.”
Bred by Peter and Philip Vela, Guiseppina is from the Success Express mare Battocchi who is also the dam of the Pencarrow bred Micken (Darci Brahma) who ran second in the G2 Wellington Guineas in 2011.
She also hails from the family of G1 winners The Pooka and Trappings.
