New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale graduate Tyne Cot continued the run of success for sale products with a victory in the Listed Matamata Cup last Saturday.
It was a timely success by Tyne Cot with New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds on November 18 and 19 at Karaka with Breeze Up’s to be held at Te Rapa racecourse on October 19 and 20.
The Ready to Run Sale produced 19 stakes wins last season alone, the most of any comparable sale in Australasia, including four G1 wins, the only sale of its kind to produce a G1 winner in the season.Tyne Cot was purchased by Kevin Myers at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2010 Ready to Run Sale for $12,000 from Regal Farm.
The seven-year-old gelding has earned $126,400 since debuting as a three-year-old for owners E M Connors and C Connors.A winner of six races from 17 starts, this was Tyne Cot’s first stakes win.
The son of Keeper finished an unlucky fourth in the 2013 Group 1 Easter Handicap, showing his potential before injuries slowed down his progress.Trained by Neil Connors, Tyne Cot won fresh up this season in August at Hawke’s Bay before a fast finishing fifth placing at his last start, also at Hawke’s Bay.
