Bobby Dazzler (Zed x Tutuland by Green Desert) is trained by Stephen Marsh and had to endure a stewards inquiry into interference in the concluding stages.

He is part-owned by his breeders John, Mark and Rachael Carter, two brothers and a sister who race under their Jomara Bloodstock banner.

The win completed a stellar week for the trio as they also bred and share in the ownership of G1 Memsie Stakes winner Humidor.

Savabeel filly Peaceful posted a classy win in the Listed Fillies Stakes at Wanganui for the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman stable.

Peaceful (Savabeel x Paloma by Mossman) closed off last season with a victory in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes and picked up where she left off beating London Express (Shamexpress) and Tutta La Classe (Per Incanto).

Baker confirmed they plan to take the filly to Melbourne later in the spring.

Peaceful has now had six starts for two wins, three placings and $74,350 in prizemoney.

The filly was bred and sold by Westbury Stud at the 2017 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka where she was purchased by Bruce Perry Bloodstock for $260,000.

Sai Fah, a colt by Rios, took out New Zealand’s first two-year-old race of the season at Wanganui.

Sai Fah had won two trials at Te Teko last month and the Stephen Marsh-trained colt did enough to win the 800m after a head-to-head battle over the final 200 metres with First Rock (El Roca).

Alto Potzena, by first season sire Proisir), finished third.

Sai Fah, out of the Fast N Famous mare Rongonui, was sold at the NZB National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale in 2017 by Waikato Stud to Mission Downs Trust for just $6000.

This Listed 3yo only over 1340m saw a couple of riders go crazy up front drag racing almost and it set up the quinella of Bobby Dazzler and Notabadidea that had the drop on the gassing each other duo. The track at Wanganui today was presented in a manmade bias towards on pacers almost all day no matter the race pace overall. Bobby Dazzler had flopped badly at his last start before today but that was at Te Rapa and that track has been so outrageously bad for so long it is currently closed getting desperately needed work done properly on it. The colt raced third or fourth on settling then moved up wide near the home turn and led turning in, as the leading pair gassing each other's chances felt the folly of their silly tactics. Bobby Dazzler led at the 200m still and had only one threat at the 100m with the gelding getting in the bob that matters after a ding donger at the 50m. He is by the form swim sire of Zed so is almost certain not to cope on good footing or in fact be able to run fast enough time to be competitive. It was his second win in three outings after a bog track victory on debut, also by a nose, so he loves these close finishes for sure. Notabadidea tried to win the race in the inquiry room but that was dismissed when it was shown he had ample time if good enough to get past Bobby Dazzler. He raced fifth in a gap on his own due to the pair of leaders cutting each other's chances to shreds from barrier rise and then strode closer menacingly coming up to the home turn fourth ready to pounce. The gelding was second at the 200m and a big threat at the 100m before going stride for stride at the 50m only to lose out by a nostril flare. He had won his maiden on debut in the wet easily and the fourth finisher has since been Listed placed though no other form has come out of this maiden race since from the second, third and fifth finishers it should be highlighted. Mohaka trailed the two mad leaders laughing at their bad tactics and fought on for third beaten just over two lengths with this filly part of a good female team this season for the Guy Lowry and Grant Cullen yard. So the Listed trifecta and blacktype worth in this race came from runners sitting third or fourth, fifth and third or fourth and that is quite telling of the two up front tactically dreadfully emptying each other's tank. Botti the favourite was seventh in a gap on settling and urged along early such was the madness speed of the two up front and he ended up fourth beaten just over four and a half lengths. He is a staying type so look for the real deal next time out as this was a race not run to suit and on a manmade biased track so he was one-paced. Tuigirl plugged on for a distant fifth and was not disgraced. Atenartin had led and won his last two starts easily, the latest at Listed level, but after he and Red Beach cut each other's throats from the outset they both punctured badly the run home. He was beaten nine lengths and maybe he is just a sprinter and did not get the 1340m but then again Red Beach stopped before the home turn and was beaten fifteen and a half lengths in this episode of futility. The rest were outclassed or did not cop the ground. This looks an iffy result and a wet track one so cannot be trusted as a fair representation of the ability pecking order. Botti will end up the best of these by a margin but will need more distance and not such manmade biased tracks presented so may go to Australia early to get away from the current constant funk with New Zealand racing venues.
