Exciting Rock Of Gibraltar three year-old Pampelonne made a one act affair of the $500,000 Inglis Scone Guineas on Saturday.
Alan Bell, the former Racing NSW chairman, has raced a lot of good horses over the years including Grand Armee, Schillaci, Primacy, Magic of Money, Dupain and Strada and looks to have another great prospect in Pampelonne.
The lightly raced gelding has the overall record of four wins and two seconds from just six starts with prizemoney of $667,900.
Bred by Neil Werrett of Black Caviar fame, Pampelonne was purchased by trainer Tim Martin for $140,000 at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
He is the second foal and second winner for the stakes-placed Rory's Jester mare Jestajewel, a half-sister to multiple stakeswinner Marveen.
Pampelonne, winner of the Gosford Guineas at his previous start, is one of 73 stakes winners by Rock Of Gibraltar, whose last Australian bred progeny are weanlings.
His Scone win emulated the feat of SIncero in 2011. He completed the Gosford-Inglis Guineas double twelve months ago and went on to win the G1 Stradbroke Handicap.
Martin indicated that Pampelonne would also be on his way to Brisbane with the Stradbroke on June 9 as his main aim.
Scone Guineas runner-up Flying Fuji collected $100,000 for second place, 25 times her $4000 purchase price paid at last year's Inglis Scone Yearling Sale.
The $50,000 Inglis Trainers Bonus for 2010 Inglis Select Yearling Sale graduates was taken home by John O'Shea thanks to two series wins by Hendricus and one by Elite Falls.
