* REFUSE To Bend import Kelinni is set to start a firm favourite in this weekend's Sydney Cup after an excellent lead up win under 60kg at Randwick last Saturday in the Listed JRA Plate.The five-year-old Kelinni (Refuse To Bend x Orinoco by Darshaan) was purchased at the 2010 Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale in the UK for 80,000gns by his trainer Chris Walller.
His dam Orinoco raced once and has produced four winners from six foals to race with Kelinni being her only stakes winner.
Orinoco is a daughter of the stakes placed Irish River (Riverman) mare My Potters who produced five winners including the Irish G1 Oaks winner Winona (Alzao). T
The family includes of Japanese champions Diamond Biko (Sunday Silence) and Heart’s Cry (Sunday Silence).
Kelinni has now won nine of his 24 career starts and $929,650 in prize money.
* MORE Than Ready colt Better Than Ready reaffirmed that he is a leading prospect for the coming big sprints in Brisbane with his classy win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Better Than Ready is now the winner of six of his 10 starts with $328,000 in earnings.
Sold as a yearling for $140,000 to trainer Kelly Schweida from the draft of Newgate Farm at the 2011 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, he is out of the winning Agnes World mare Sally’s World.
Sally’s World is out of the stakes placed Sally Magic (Keltrice) making her a half sister to the dual G3 winner
Publishing (Testa Rossa) and the Listed winner and G2-placed Miss Mooney Mooney (Redoute’s Choice).
* TRANSPORTER, winner of the Listed BRC Members’ Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday, is the 56th stakes winner by Danehill's prolific winner producer Commands.
Commands has been enjoyed a terrific season highlighted by his triple G1-winning daughter Appearance, his G1 Thousand Guineas winner Commanding Jewel and G1 Golden Rose winner Epaulette.
Transporter has been a model of consistency, winning eight of his 20 starts with six placings.
Bred by Torryburn Stud, Transporter is out of the Sir Tristram mare Portrait Collector, a half-sister to G3 winners Equal Rights and Freedom Fields and the Listed winner Adopted Hero.
Transporter is the final foal to race from for his dam, who was recently retired from stud duty.
* A storming finish from the rear saw Melbourne three-year-old General Peekay become the 46th stakes winner for his late sire General Nediym in the Listed H C Nitschke Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
Bred, foaled and raised at Widden Stud, General Peekay has the overall record of four wins from 11 starts and more than $154,000 prizemoney.
He is the second winner from the Sydney metropolitan winner Barberton and was retained after being withdrawn from the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Barberton died prematurely in 2011, but has a 2YO filly by Northern Meteor and a yearling filly by Haradasun.
General Nediym died in 2009.
* Another sire racking up his 46th stakeswiner on Saturday was Testa Rossa, thanks to the win by Speediness in the Listed Pink Ribbon Cup at Caulfield.
Speediness is out of the Flying Spur mare Fine Glass.
* DANEHILL's descendants Longhorn and Collate sired their first stakes winners at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The Listed Juanmo Stakes was won by Black Magic, a four year old mare by Danehill's son Longhorn from Heavenly Belle (St Jude).
Collate, by Danehill's Golden Slipper winner Catbird, is the sire of Listed Princess Stakes winner Fantisha (ex Spurring by Flying Spur).
* KEEP The Faith mare Lucky Penny was a class above her rivals recording a first-up win at Caulfield on Saturday.
The 4YO Lucky Penny (Keep The Faith x White Hart Lane by Flying Spur) won the Listed Laelia Stakes at Morphettville last May but had been off the scene since August following a float accident.
She had won on debut by eight lengths at Wodonga in April of 2012 and followed with another dominant display at Caulfield before her Listed win in Adelaide.
Her dam White Hart Lane won four races and was also stakes placed at Flemington and Morphettville.
Smith sent Lucky Penny’s half-sister Tottenham Girl (Dash For Cash) to Keep The Faith last year.
Keep The Faith (Sunday Silence) stands on a fee of $4400 (inc gst) at Greta West Stud.
* ZIZOU's progeny continue to build an impressive record for their sire with the smart 2YO filly Everage becoming his third stakeswinner when she won the Listed Keith mackay Qualioty at Randwick on Saturday.
Everage is out of the Snippets mare Quipster and has now won three races.
* SHINZIG's first start Ziggler ran up to a good trial win when an impressive winner on debut over 1000m at Morphettville on Saturday.
Ziggler, from Shinzig’s second crop, is out of the Centaine mare Princess Canny and was purchased by Kennewell at last year’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.
Shinzig’s other recent winners include Pixelated (also one from one), To Infinity, French Butterfly, We Can Dance and Little Red Wagon.
* FORMER shuttle sire Oratorio sired his 28th stakes winner when the two-year-old Riocetto (ex Dolcetto by Canny Lad) won the Listed Fernhill Handicap at Randwick on Saturday.
* KERRIFFIC, a six-year-old gelding from the Tribu mare Striking Zoe, won the Listed Grandstand Cup at Ascot in Perth to become the 22nd stakes winner for his leading WA-based sire Blackfriars (Danehill).
