Snitzel filly Nostariel won the Cottontail Wines Inglis Bonus 2YO Handicap on the first day of the Wagga Gold Cup carnival for the Gai Waterhouse stable.
Nostariel was one of 10 runners nominated for the Inglis Race Series, which entitled her to a $50,000 Inglis Bonus in addition to the prize money for the race.
Bred by Susan Woodcock, Nostariel (Snitzel x Angel Smoke) was a $100,000 purchase at the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Meredith Park for Round Table Racing and her trainer, and now races for Alan Galbraith. She was having her second career start after a close third after drawing wide at her first start at Kembla Grange.
“She’s a very promising filly with a lot of upside, and with the Inglis bonus on offer at Wagga it was a hard race to ignore,” said Waterhouse’s racing manager Adrian Bott.“It’s a great race series, we targeted the race with this filly and we are confident there is plenty more to come from her.”
This is the fifth consecutive year that the Inglis Bonus has been run and won at Wagga with Nostariel following previous winners Sure And Fast, Chosen Song, Elkaydee and Hendricus to land the extra $50,000 for their connections. All yearlings sold or passed in at Inglis Select Yearling Sales are eligible for nomination to the Inglis Race Series.
Nominations for 2015 Inglis yearling sale graduates to be included in the next Race Series close on July 31.The last two chances in 2015 to secure a yearling eligible for the lucrative $5 million Inglis Race Series are the upcoming Inglis Classic Autumn Book and the Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale.
