Hard Spun filly Pleasuring completed a notable double in Tasmania on Sunday when she won the Listed Tasmanian Oaks at Mowbray in Launceston.
The Darren Weir-trained Pleasuring was a hot favourite to win the Oaks after she raced to a convincing win in the Listed Strutt Stakes in Hobart on February 11.
Pleasuring has maintained the steady flow of Australian winners for Hard Spun, having won her maiden at Ballarat in January before Weir set her for the Tasmanian carnival.Pleasuring is from Sleeplessinseattle, the dam of seven winners from seven foals to race an extension of a prolific female family.
Her dam Seattle Rhyme produced eight winners from 10 foals to race and third dam Elizabeth Drake got 12 foal to race for 10 winners, including the G1 performer Northern Drake.• CHAMPION sire Fastnet Rock sired his 130th stakes winner when the Jason Coyle-trained gelding More Energy won the Listed Parramatta Cup at Rosehill.
The 7YO More Energy (Fastnet Rock x Perfect Promise by Caesour) is trained by Jason Coyle and he has earmarked the Listed Randwick City Stakes on March 10 as the gelding’s next target. More Energy was a $150,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Toolooganvale Farm draft for DGR Thoroughbreds and has won six races and nearly $300,000 in prizemoney for Les Tinkler’s Serene Lodge.More Energy’s dam Perfect Promise is a South African G1 winner. She is also the dam of the G3-placed Hard Promise.
• I Am Invincible colt Overshare overcame a strong Caulfield headwind and a protest to win the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes.Overshare (I AM Invincible x Savannah’s Choice by Redoute’s Choice) was a $320,000 Spendthrift Australia buy at the 2016 Sydney Easter Sale from the Victoria Park draft.
The win was the 54th black type success for Yarraman Park stallion I Am Invincible.Overshare led home a quinella for Yarraman Park sires and the Team Hawkes stable when he beat stablemate Wild Heart (Hinchinbrook).
• The Danny O’Brien-trained filly Summer Sham preserved her unbeaten record when she took out the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield to become the 51st stakes winer for her sire Not A Single Doubt.Summer Shame (Not A Single Doubt x Hot Summer Night by Fusaichi Pegasus) had previously recorded victories at Ballarat and Moonee Valley and will now aim for the G2 AV Kewney Stakes at Flemington on March 10.
The Daniel Williams-trained 3YO gelding Valiant Spirit provided his sire Duporth with his fourth stakes winner in the G2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield.• Valiant Spirit (Duporth x Graces Spirit by Flying Spur) joins G1 winner Hey Doc, G3 winner Dashing Fellow and Listed winner Ruettiger as Duporth’s stakes winners.
Not only did Valiant Spirit’s win provide Duporth with a new stakes winner it also handed Williams with his first city winner.
