Mandy Cottell
Covering the Sydney racing scene for Racing And Sports since 2021, Mandy Cottell has been a racing journalist for almost two decades. After completing a Communications degree majoring in journalism, she lived and worked in England for 18 months where one of the highlights was being trackside to watch Galileo win the 2001 Epsom Derby. On return home, Mandy worked for the TAB before an opportunity came up to be a Sydney racing writer for Australian Associated Press (AAP). She spent close to 15 years at AAP where she was privileged to write stories about the likes of Bart Cummings, Gai Waterhouse, Black Caviar and Winx. She also covered a handful of Melbourne Cup carnivals and can fondly remember when Chris Waller’s best horse was a Saturday-class mare called Go Ziggy.
