Obsidian (Race 4) is challenging for favouritism at $3.80 having shortened a point since markets opened. The gelding has been consistent without winning in four runs this campaign and should find this easier having race in Saturday grade at his past two.

Pumpkin Pie (Race 5) is a well supported favourite at $2.10, having firmed 65 cents on his opening quote. The country filly is lightly raced but should be improved by a resuming fourth at Randwick and won second up at her maiden campaign.

Destiny's Kiss (Race 6) is no stranger to this sort of race and the punters believe he can win another one, backing him in 30 cents to $2.60 with TopBetta fixed odds. He has won three of six starts at this course and distance including the Tatts Cup two starts ago and wasn’t far away when third in the Gosford Cup last time.

Eight-year-old Destiny’s Kiss put up another solid staying effort, after winning the Tattersall’s Club Cup (Listed, 2400m) here on 2 January, to score well here, his 15th win from 65 starts. He settled nicely in second last in the six-horse field, behind a slow tempo, improved on the inner (under riding) at the home turn, got to the front at the 100m and then went on to win well under his (59.5 kg) top weight. Shalmaneser raced in second place, took the lead at the home turn and kept fighting on well for second, just finding the winner (whom conceded him 6.5kg) too good. Foreign Prince led early on settling a very steady pace. He was overtaken mid-race (by Index Linked), challenged at the home turn and then kept battling on to hold the minor placing.
