Progressive colt Hadron can bring up his second win in today's Tanya Daniels Good Guys Handicap (race 6) at Ballarat.
The lightly raced colt has been entered and scratched a couple of times lately but trainer Peter Snowden has settled on this RB68 showcase over 1500m.
Hadron, a son of Lonhro from the Peintre Celebre mare Lasers, made his debut on the all weather at Geelong but endured a tough run form a wide gate and faded to finish seventh.
He was subsequently spelled again.
He resumed over 1115m at Werribee and after getting back eased wider in the straight and made steady ground into fifth.
Next start he then stepped up to 1300m at Geelong and again drifted well back before making good late ground, running on into fifth.
Back to Werribee but to a more suitable 1400m, he jumped awkwardly and was second last throughout.
He spotted a big start at the top of the straight then when getting warmed up ran into traffic, held up there before finally getting clear and charging when the race was over into third, beaten only a neck behind Need To Exceed.
He should have won easily.
Last start, though, over 1462m at Kilmore, he had no traffic problems when settling midfield and wide before running into the race and away with a 4.8 length win.
The colt has improved at each run and has also appreciated every little step up in ground to his win last time.
Today he races over slightly further again and although taking on tougher grade drops a kilo on almost a five length win.
He has drawn okay, will be camped off the speed and hard to hold out on the big track again.
The lightly raced Coghills Creek is racing well and after a close up third in this grade looks hard to hold out again.
The Terry Kelly trained gelding didn't have a lot of luck fresh over 1200m at Terang but improved sharply over the same journey next start at Donald with a fats finishing win with a big weight.
He then race din this class over 1400m at Hamilton where he drew wide and settled well back but came with a strong finish when fourth, beaten less than two lengths.
Last start, here in a showcase RB72 over the same 1500m as today, he settled midfield and turned there but got home well again, finishing 1.9 lengths away in third place.
Today the gelding has drawn wide but his style probably negates that, and he drops in grade.
At the course he has a win and a last start placing and with even luck he'll be hard to hold out again here.
The Tony Vasil trained Miss Reveal was a winner here three back and has been thereabouts in two efforts since.
Her win was overdue in this grade when running on hard before she raced at Caulfield and after settling fourth in the small field failed to come on, finishing fifth in RB78 class.
Last start, in an RB72 here over 1500m she drew an outside gate and sat three deep before finding traffic on the bend.
When clear she ran on steadily to finish fifth but should have finished closer.
She comes back a grade today, has the inside gate and on her good record here should be running on hard again.
Will's Power is an on speed runner and left alone up there should give a big sight at odds.
