Sit Back And Enjoy The Comfysofa At Ascot

3 minute read

While most punters may find it difficult to decipher the final races in Sydney and Melbourne this afternoon the third race at Ascot appears a much more appetising betting fixture with the Simon Miller trained Comfysofa well placed to continue his winning run for his new stable.

Stepping out on debut for the Simon Miller stable at Pinjarra last start, the lightly raced son of Comfy proved far too good for his rivals when overcoming a wide run in transit to score comfortably by three-quarters of a length.

While it may not appear that his win was that impressive on paper, he was forced to sit fourth, three wide without cover throughout and was still able to hit the line strongly and draw away from his rivals in the straight.

Having proven competitive in similar company to this last time in, Comfysofa should have no problems with the step up in grade and despite carrying the topweight he still appears very well placed in this afternoon's event.

With not much speed engaged in the race expect Jason Whiting to press forward from the awkward draw and attempt to cross and sit just off the speed.

Currently boasting at an outstanding win strike rate of 30% for this season, expect Miller to have no problems notching up another win to his tally this afternoon.

The Neville Parnham trained Right Honourable appears the biggest threat in the race after he proved game in defeat at this track last start in tougher Saturday company.

Attempting to make all in his latest effort, Right Honourable was only collared in the final 125m and stuck to his task well to finish fifth.

Having been kept fresh for this he is expected to roll forward from the wide draw and give them all something to chase and clearly cannot be underestimated.

Flying Metal remains the big query runner as he is one of the few runners engaged in this race coming out of a different formline having finished midfield in tougher company at Albany last start.

Drawn ideally on the rails he should appreciate the aid of Ben Patterson's 2kg claim and given his strong record at this course and distance he shapes as one of the leading contenders.

Both Aplorable and Fabulistic appear to round out the multiples.

Good luck and happy punting.
