The current leading jockey and trainer in Singapore this year have been in scintillating form when combining and they can get the feature event tonight too.
Joao Moreira at the start of this evening was already on 45 wins, so blink and he will have reached a half century by the end of this weekend.
Mark Walker with 20 wins has a nice buffer in the training ranks and he is after the title for sure with big numbers lined up each meeting and new ammunition arriving all the time.
Put the two table toppers together and you have a recipe for wagering dynamite so Flying Fulton looks a good thing in the seventh race on the card.
Flying Fulton won the S$200K Polytrack Mile Championship at G3 last year for rider Opie Bosson but tonight Moreira gets atop the big and rugged warhorse.
It is very significant as the apprentice Rizuan Shafiq has been the regular rider and done a good job in the main but when a chance to grab Joao happens it is a no brainer.
Moreira has never ridden Flying Fulton, which is staggering in itself, but at WFA on the poly it looks like as ever his timing is impeccable.
Flying Fulton has won seven times on the all weather and when the rest have to carry the same as him, as is the case tonight under WFA, it makes him a good thing.
His strength makes the 58kg seem easy and he can be sat wide and still box on at the finish so a copybook ride by Moreira could see lights out for the rest.
Versatility means he can lead if needed or loom large across the top but the common pattern is always put him into the reckoning turning for home and the big horse will give his all.
He has been brave at the last two starts on turf and certainly covered extra ground while prior had a nightmare trip over 1900m on the poly but still fought for fifth.
If you go four starts back he won a poly mile under 57kg, after claiming down from 59kg, and in a ding donger of a finish fought hard to win narrowly over a rival that had 7kg less.
The third and sixth finishers in Nandowra and Black Ice are rivals again this evening but meet Flying Fulton badly under WFA.
Nandowra was third and beaten almost a length and a half plus carried 2.5kg less, while Black Ice was sixth and beaten over five lengths and carried 4.5kg less.
Both these runners are chances on form but whether they can go with Flying Fulton with all carrying 58kg is another matter.
Moreira has been riding Nandowra of late into third and fourth at G3 on the turf plus he rode the tall horse into fourth (also at G3) four runs ago on the poly.
Manoel Nunes takes the ride tonight and he is building up a good rapport with Michael Freedman runners so expect him to lead or sit on the pace.
Black Ice is a tribute to Team Burridge as this horse whenever healthy and able to have enough work put into him is a Group horse.
Amazingly he has only placed at G3 twice and never won at the ultimate levels but on the poly is a three-time winner and at a mile is a dual winner from four attempts.
Alan Munro won on him last start when atop for the first time so no surprise he retains the ride plus the gate one suits as the gelding loves to dash through closer in.
How can you leave out the classy Lizarre that is twice G1 placed and a G3 and Listed winner?
His two starts this year have returned close seconds at G3 on the turf and I felt a recent trial placing showed the Pat Shaw runner looking in fantastic order.
Lizarre has won twice and placed twice in five all weather track outings so while more a middle distance performer there is a mile win in his record.
Two of the other three runners in What Now and Silveron Wings have the ability but are yet to win on the poly though to be fair the former has only tried it once and was narrowly beaten first up in Singapore.
It is under WFA that will be the stumbling block for the pair and also for the slightly built Arowana Dot Com but he at least is a dual poly winner and has been G1 placed.
Arowana Dot Com has won third up before and may give some cheek but when the whips are cracking at WFA some of the bigger frames will be fighting on better.
The perfect punting storm happens tonight with Moreira atop a Walker runner for the first time that is a polytrack and G3 colossus (four wins at this level), which means the support will be substantial.
I see Nandowra as the danger with Lizarre next best then Black Ice, so the first-four looks like a lock.
Enjoy the feature Polytrack Mile Championsip.
