Baccarat Holds All The Aces

3 minute read

Former New Zealand based galloper Baccarat appears very well placed to make a winning debut, when due to contest the sixth event at Kranji this evening.

Now under the care of Stephen Gray, Baccarat has displayed plenty of ability in his nine starts, having been placed in both Group 2 and Group 3 company.

Although possessing just the sole win to his name, Baccarat has placed on a further three occasions and certainly appears well placed in this Novice event.

Off the scene for 204 days, Baccarat has been tuned with two easy trials, most recently finishing fifth behind Lonhro Gold.

On both occasions he hasn’t been asked for anything in the straight and there certainly looked to be a bit left in the locker.

Allotted 58kg, he gives weight away to a majority of his rivals, but when assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he certainly gets his chance.

There is a bit of guesswork required with these imports, but to be plain and simple, if he runs up to his form, he will be winning.

From the middle draw he shouldn’t be far away and with even luck, he should prove very hard to beat.

The Stephen Burridge trained Mach was no match for Siam Vipasiri last start, but clearly no knock on that form.

Only lightly raced, he is yet to miss the money in four starts and appears above average to this point.

From the good draw he should get into a lovely spot for Glen Boss and if able to continue his upward spiral, he looms as a major threat.

The Donna Logan trained Ironside really caught the eye in his Singapore debut and remains under strong notice racing second up.

Unsuited over 1000m, he is sure to appreciate the step up in trip and remains open to good improvement on his prior best form from New Zealand.

While likely to get back from the draw, he should be hitting the line hard late.

Of the rest the Mark Walker trained Bejewelled appears the next in line.

Still a maiden after four starts, he has displayed fair ability and cannot be taken lightly.

Good luck and happy punting.
