Jomo To Remain Unbeaten

3 minute read

The Lee Freedman trained Jomo has been ultra impressive in both starts to this point and appears more than capable of bringing up the hat-trick at Singapore this evening.

Due to contest the seventh event at Kranji, Jomo chases his third straight win after easily disposing of his rivals when sent out $1.40 favourite last start.

In similar fashion to his debut win, Jomo travelled well throughout and once clicked up he displayed a sharp turn of foot to put a gap on his rivals.

Although getting an easy time in front, Jomo again gave the clock a starting and a beating.

Very few horses are able to make the rise from maiden to Class 4 company, but Jomo did it with consummate ease, spacing his rivals late.

The one concern with his last start effort was that it did appear a Formula 1 race, that being very little changed in the order from the turn to the finish.

The Mark Walker trained Super Emperor was the only horse to lose their position (finished last), whereas every other horse in the first seven finished according to their position on the turn.

When doing the form this does appear a key negative, however his closing speed suggests it is a decent piece of form.

You don't want to get too caught up on who horses beat, but moreso how they did it.

On the bare surface Jomo received all the favours, however when you pick apart the sectionals, his performance was still very very good.

When assessing Timeform predictive ratings, he certainly has more to come and appears more than capable of taking that next step this evening.

Although he has led at both starts, wouldn't be surprised to see Jomo ridden with a sit from the wide draw, there simply hasn't been a horse fast enough to lead him at his first two starts.

This is another test for him, though he should prove hard to beat.

The James Peters trained Nova Vocal really impressed leading throughout at this C&D last start and obviously looms as a major threat.

Having put the writing on the wall at the trials prior to his last start win, Nova Vocal was always in firm control and gave his rivals little chance, saluting by 4.5L.

He recorded decent figures and only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again.

The Desmond Koh trained Sun Dream went into the paddock in winning form and has to be kept safe fresh off the back of two soft trials.

A winner of two of his three attempts on the polytrack, he has won fresh previously and with Duric booked, he shapes as one of the major players.

Of the rest the Stephen Gray trained Whose Else's appears the next in line, following a solid performance behind Moritz Eclipse last start.
