The new connections of the highly-regarded filly Sardaaj will be hoping for a quick return on their investment at Te Rapa on Saturday.

The daughter of Iffraaj was an impressive debut winner at Ruakaka last month prompting Australian interests to purchase the three-year-old.

“She’s under new ownership now and will be racing for Rosemont Stud,” trainer Stephen Marsh said.

“She’s got a bad draw to overcome so she’ll need a little luck, but she is definitely heading to bigger and better things. She’s a very talented filly.”

Located west of Geelong in Victoria, Rosemont Stud is home to stallions Starcraft, Starspangledbanner and Toorak Toff and numbers Pear Tart, Headway, Arapaho Miss, Jolie Bay and Better Be The One among its Group One graduates.

Marsh is also expecting a bold resuming run from the stakes winning Pins six-year-old Barbaric in the Listed Legacy Lodge Sprint.

“He’s going along great and his feet are in good order,” he said.

Barbaric has an enviable winning strike rate with six victories from his 17 starts and last season he posted a career-best performance when successful in the Listed Levin Stakes.

The gelding hasn’t raced since he finished runner-up to Spin Doctor in July and has been working well for his return.

“His trial was really good and he goes well at Te Rapa,” Marsh said. “He’s got a bit of weight to carry with 58.5kg, but I’m really happy with him.”

The stable has been in good form of late and the talented Procurement is confidently expected to keep their winning tally ticking over in the near future.

A two-time winner from five appearances, she finished second at Tauranga when resuming earlier this month.

“She went great and was beaten by a good one in Moochi Me,” Marsh said. “She’ll run next on Counties Cup day.”
