This Listed 2400m Open Handicap saw a three-win 6yo racing many grades above his class win very easily and embarrass the so-called stayers in the South Island. Motorbike Mike the 8yo ran on fairly but really the runners at this stage were coming in at intervals. The lack of stamina depth in the South Island makes this a dubious result indeed. The way La Nouvelle Vague beat these when rising many grades shows that the South Island stayer is now a myth so he has everything covered on the Mainland at this moment it would seem.
