The four-year-old has won five of his 21 starts, including the Great Autumn Handicap (2500m) at his most recent appearance, and finished third in the Listed Riverton Cup (2147m).

He was trained at Riccarton by Kevin and Pam Hughes and raced by them with Helen Ferguson.

“It was big money, too good to turn down, and we’ve done a deal whereby we have kept a quarter of the horse,” Kevin Hughes said.

“He goes over there next Thursday so it’s going to be terribly exciting. He’s a very, very good horse, but there’s too few opportunities for him here.

“He’s not a big horse and we would have had to be very careful as he’d be getting too much weight if he won a couple more.

“There’s very good money over there for him every week and we’ll be able to go over and watch him. Hopefully, he might get through to the Sydney Cup or something like that.”

Son Of Zac is by Zacinto, who produced impressive Hong Kong winnerNamjong Plus on Wednesday while the Valachi Downs stallion’s daughter Wize Act struck for the fifth time in her career at Phar Lap Raceway on Friday.

Namjong Plus came from the back of the field to win over 1800m at Happy Valley on Wednesday for his third success in nine appearances for trainer Almond Lee.

Meanwhile, Australia is also on the radar for the stakes-winning sprinter Carnival.

“She’ll have a run or two here and then go to Melbourne for the How Now Stakes,” Hughes said.

Carnival will join the Flemington stable of Russell and Scott Cameron for her bid on the Gr.3 How Now Stakes (1200m)at Caulfield on September 22.
